His smart, effective, race-ready rigging has been absolutely key to my performance and campaign - allowing me to focus on racing, not whether a control line will jam or a block will blow at the worst moment. Beyond that, Max has shared his knowledge generously and helped me become far more confident and capable with ILCA boat work and rigging. 4th at Sail Melbourne 💨💨 Wrapped up my first training block down under with a few great days of racing. This one was very much a “process” event but it’s always rewarding to see that when the processes come together, the results follow. We trialed a new finals format this week on the last day of racing. I narrowly missed a medal, which stung a bit, but honestly I learned more from experiencing it that way. Grateful to be trying new things, pushing boundaries and staying committed to the bigger goals. European Champs ✅ Finished the week as 16th European - not quite the result I was aiming for to close out the 2025 season, but it’s given me some clear goals to hit before 2026 rolls around. 5th in the World!!!! 🤪🤪🤪 And what a week it was…waiting around for the wind to finally come on the final 2 days. With just 6 qualifying races making up the World Championship it was a bit more of a sprint race this time. I’m just so happy I was able to deliver when it mattered most and when we did get the opportunity to race!! A massive PB for me and such an exciting first year of this Olympic cycle!! We had a regatta of two halves with a day of light, tricky racing and a day of big breeze, highly tactical racing. Just so cool to see all the hard work come together. Thank you so much to my coach @jonasz824 and my teammates for helping me push hard every single day. A massive shout out to @eve.mcmahonn for her first Senior medal - absolutely loved seeing my best friend and training partner up there!! Sail like a girl 💫 Growing up as a female athlete has come with its own set of challenges. Being underestimated, facing fewer opportunities and feeling the pressure to prove my worth. Many girls quit sports as they grow older and become more aware of societal expectations. I really loved this campaign by Always that flipped the script on what it means to do something “like a girl”. So today, on International Women’s Day, I want to remind everyone that sailing, running, throwing or playing like a girl is something to be proud of. Another podium finish is always a great feeling, but this one felt a little different… Process vs. Outcome: The Regatta Mindset ⛵️ As a competitor, I’m always pushing for the best possible results. But sometimes, it’s crucial to zoom out and look at the process behind winning. Outcome Regatta 🏆: It’s all about the result - the podium, the ranking, the medal. We are solely focused on hitting our targets which can help fuel that competitive fire to send it! But when we’re too focused on just the outcome, we might miss the small wins that actually make us better. And if we don’t hit our goal? It can be easy to feel discouraged. Process Regatta 📈: This is where the real growth happens. Did I nail my start? Were my decisions on point? It’s not just about where we finish but every little move along the way that gets us there. These regattas are an opportunity to try new things that can make us better in the long run. Excellence isn’t built overnight, it’s about constant improvement so that when it really counts, we’re ready. As athletes, our natural competitiveness makes it hard to ignore the results, the competition and even the expectations around us. But one of the biggest skills to master is learning to use a regatta as an opportunity, not just to win, but to experiment and push outside our comfort zone for long-term growth. This event was a real learning curve for me and I’m proud of the steps I took to improve. And of course the podium finish was an added bonus! Why do so many sailors spend nearly as much time on the bike as they do on the water?? 🤷🏼‍♀️ A question I’ve been getting a lot lately!! So here’s my take on it… Fitness Gains 💪🏼: Grinding up hills on a bike feels really similar to hiking hard in an ILCA. It’s the perfect way to target the same muscle groups (legs and core) whilst keeping a solid training load and intensity even when I’m not sailing. Plus, watts don’t lie! A great way to track fitness progress objectively. Injury Prevention🦵🏼: Cycling is a low-impact way to build endurance without beating up my body. Switching things up also helps prevent overuse injuries and keeps me fresh for those long regatta days. Recovery Mode 🔄: Nothing flushes out the lactic acid from a hard day on the water like a spin on the bike. It’s also a great tool to help clear your mind after tricky racing days. Pure Fun 🤪: My love for cycling started during the COVID lockdowns when I rode just for the joy of it - no numbers, no goals, just adventure. Officially graduated from the University of Exeter this summer with a First Class degree in Psychology!!!!!! Pretty cool to get a full page in the Graduation brochure this year aswell 🤪🤪 So incredibly grateful to all of the people that have made it possible to balance my academics during an Olympic campaign. Au revoir Marseille 🥺🥺 We just wrapped up the final training camp in Marseille ahead of the Olympic Games. It’s crazy to think this has been home for me for the last 3 summers. I really have loved every minute and every inch of this place. Looking back on all the memories of Marseille it’s so cool to see the progression over the years. These hard hours spent on and off the water are starting to really pay off and I’m excited for what the new cycle has in store. Gutted it was too windy today to actually do the medal race 😅 It’s certainly been a long and cold week both on and off the water. A capsize in race 2 left me with a deep discard from the get go and kept me a bit too reserved on the start line this week. But I felt really happy with my speed and proud to finish the week with a race win!! That was probably the last major regatta for a while now with the Games fast approaching. Sad that the racing season is coming to a close but looking forward to making the most of some solid training in Marseille this summer. 🥉 at @trofeosofia !!!! Wowowow. Over the last year I’ve watched many of our medal races from the sidelines and I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to finally be in and amongst it. And then to cross the finish line with a medal, I just couldn’t believe it!! This week has meant the world to me, proving to myself that I’m capable of being right at the front of our incredibly competitive fleet. And to do it at an iconic event like this in the Olympic year feels even more special. 16th at the 2024 World Champs 🐠 A week of many emotions. Super stoked to have been battling out in the top 10 for most of the week. Going into the final day in 7th was such a cool feeling! Just so gutted with how it all played out on the last day of fleet racing. But I’m also really proud of myself for bouncing back and winning the final race of the week. It’s exciting to see how my sailing is progressing and with such a competitive fleet I’ve just gotta keep at it!! exciting new upgrade!!! 🙋🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ The new Aluminium Bullseye Fairlead has been developed and tested by @southeast_sailboats and it has just been made class legal. Never thought I’d be so excited over a boat block but here we are 😅 I always find myself having to replace plastic fairleads to try and stop my kicker secondary line from wearing after only a week of sailing. I know many of my fellow competitors all face the same issue. A massive thank you to Max for coming up with a solution! He’s gone above and beyond to create and push for this upgrade. This small and easy fitting change will make a difference to sailing performance by maximising rigging performance. I really would recommend this to fellow ILCA sailors out there who have also found themselves frustrated by the wear and tear of their kicker line within days of replacing it!! 2023 World Champs all wrapped up 🌍 While the result didn’t reflect the progress I feel I’ve made in the last 12 months, I am reminded that every setback is an opportunity to learn and grow. Sport can be brutal and the ILCA fleet is full of some incredible hard-working athletes, leaving no room for mistakes. 14th at the French Olympic Week!!! 🥐 It’s been great to be back in Hyères since we had the Euros here back in November. It sure is a challenging venue with all the extremes this week from 4 to 40 knots which has been epic. The last six months have been challenging balancing both my final year of University and at the same time focusing on campaigning towards Paris 2024. But I am absolutely loving being able to do both. I am fortunate to be in a great Squad, backed by the amazing BST. I have so much more to learn in this challenging class and am so looking forward to the next event after exams are all finished!! 1st World Cup of the Year ✅ Although it wasn’t exactly the week I was hoping for I really enjoyed being back racing against everybody (even if my face may not say it)!! I really struggled to get off the start line well the first few days but managed to progress with that quickly as the week went on. The depth of the fleet is so amazing you really can’t afford even the tiniest of mistakes when racing!
